Whirl Islands

Outside Whirl Islands

• Make sure you've obtained the Silver Wing from Prof Oak (SS)or the old man in Pewter City (HG).

Then defeat the Kimono Girls in Ecruteak to receive the Crystal Bell.

• Fly to Cianwood and enter the top right (northeast) of the four Whirl Islands entrances.

Inside Whirl Islands Cave

You need to get to the northeast island (the entrance is on the middle). This is the one you need to surf to, after arriving to the island, and to enter the cave. Follow the path and jump the ledge. Go north and jump the ledge. Go down the stairs.

• Krabbies, Seels, Zubats, and Golbats will attack you all the way.
• Next, go all the way south. Next, you can only go to the right and follow that path until a 2 way section.
• Then, on the right you have to go down the stairs. Don´t go left or you will get to another island and need to get back to the starting point(this is the way out after you catch or defeat Lugia).
• After, you go down you have light. So get the Max Revive from the left and continue down.
• Then, you see a bald guy. Just talk with him and the silver feather will shine. He will get out of the way.
• Enter the first cave and see that marvelous sight. (and get the Max Revive). Then out and all the way down.
• Next, the kimono sister will talk with you. After a brief talk your Crystal Bell will get out and the kimono sister will dance, the 2 Gold Bells will ring and then a magnicent cutscene and Lugia will come out of the waterfall. Then it´s time to surf to Lugia. And the POKEMON THE MOVIE 2000 MUSIC plays.
• Lugia is at Level 45 for SoulSilver and Level 70 for HeartGold.
• Lugia's Aeroblast, Extrasensory, and Hydro pump can do some nasty damage (and it uses Rain Dance to raise its power). So use a fast Electric pokemon and paralyze it. Get its health the lowest red you can. Last, keep using Ultra Balls until you've caught it.

• For HeartGold you need to defeat the Elite4 and go until Pewter to receive the Silver wing for the bald guy to let you down to the Lugia Chamber.

Lugia

Lugia is at Lv. 45 in SoulSilver and Lv. 70 in HeartGold. When you face Lugia in SoulSilver, if you defeat it instead of catching it, it will give you 1414 Exp. When you face Lugia in HeartGold, if you defeat it instead of catching, it will give you 2200 Exp.
