Union Cave

Union Cave is the first cave that you have to go through in order to advance in your adventure. It's located in between Route 32 and Route 33. There is a Pokemon Center right before you enter the cave so be sure to heal your pokemon before you enter the cave.
Unlike the 2nd generation games, this cave has more of a variety of trainers. A grass Pokemon will easily get through all of the trainers except for one of the firebreathers that contains 2 koffings, which shouldn't be hard to get through if you have a team with more then one Pokemon. The cave also doesn't include any sorts of puzzles and it's pretty straight forward. Overall, this cave isn't much of a challenge and should be a breeze if you just try and make your way down.

Walkthrough
When you walk through the cave, start walking left until you reach the end of the body of water. There are now 2 paths you can take in order to get out of the cave, and 2 optional paths. The BLUE paths are optional paths while the RED paths are paths needed to get out of the cave.
The BLUE path on the left leads to an item and a dead end. The BLUE path on the right leads to a firebreather trainer and the bottom floor of the cave. The bottom floor of the cave contains 2 items and a body of water that isn't important until you obtain surf, which can lead you to a Lapras.
The RED paths in the picture below are the 2 paths you take to get out of the cave. You can avoid the trainer by taking the path in between the wall and the boulder, or you can face the trainer by going in between the boulder and the water. Either way, your goal is to continue going right.
After you pass the trainer, go right until there is a path where you can go down. You'll notice another trainer. This trainer looks in different directions so you can try to avoid him or just go ahead and fight him. The choice is yours.
After the trainer, continue going through the path. You'll come to a room with a boulder located in the middle, making it a room with a square like path. If you go down, there will be another trainer with an item at the end of the path. You can reach this item by taking the long way around the path (going left, down, and right again) but you may want to fight the trainer for that little extra experience.
If you don't want to face the trainer or get the item, go left and continue the path by going down.
Shortly after, you'll find another trainer. This is another trainer that looks in different directions so, again, the choice is yours whether you fight him or not. After you get by him, travel right and then down and you'll reach the end of the cave with an item at the end.

Lapras
Lapras can be seen floating on the water on Fridays in the basement of Union Cave. Once you can Surf (after Morty) you can go over to Lapras, then once you interact with it a battle will start which allows you to catch Lapras.
To get to Lapras you need to go to the Union Cave Azalea side entrance. Go up to the pool that is near the left side wall. Surf on it and go down the stairs. There you will fight a trainer:
Aligator Guy

Surf in the pool behind him and you can skip the next trainer if you go for the upper side of the pool. Then down the stairs. Another trainer. Surf on the pool and go south until you see the end. In the end to the right you will face a trainer:

Then go back up and to the left side. Go to the wall and down. Another trainer.

Then surf on that pool. Lapras will be in the center surfing around. It´s at Level 20. Every Friday a Lapras will be surfing there.
