Mt. Silver
From Pokémon HeartGold & SoulSilver Wiki
Mt Silver
Mt. Silver (known as Mt. Shirogane, 白銀山, in Japan) is the final dungeon in the main quest of HG/SS. It has been expanded since the original Gold/Silver/Crystal games, and heavy usage of HM08 Rock Climb (obtained from Prof. Oak after winning all 16 badges) is now required to navigate this area.
Moltres, the fire legendary bird, can be captured at Lv. 50, and taking the main path through the mountain leads to a final showdown with the Pokémon Trainer Red. Defeating Red formally concludes the game.
Moltres
Once you have obtained all 16 badges head over and go deep into Silver Cave there you will find Moltres. To get to it you need Surf, Waterfall, and Rock Climb. When you get inside Mt Silver you must go to the waterfall. Then it´s a straight path until you enter the Cave where Moltres is. You just need go down and Press A by Moltres and the battles starts. Moltres is at Lv. 50.
Trainer Red - Final Boss Battle
- This is it: The most powerfull trainer in all pokemon games.
First he always send out is Pikachu. So get one ground pokemon and take it down with Earthquake. He can only do moderate damage with Iron tail. The next pokemon depends on who you have out. If you have your rock pokemon he will send out Blastoise. So get your Electric pokemon (or a pokemon that knows thunderbolt or discharge) and take it down. Next one is Venusaur... use your Fire or Ice pokemon and take it down fast. And Lapras will be out. Call your electric pokemon to blast it out (Lapras will use body slam and it is fast). Then comes the "Tank" Snorlax. If you have someone that knows Cross Chop or a fighting attack, take snorlax out fast... but if you don´t have, send your strongest pokemon (protect the pokemon that knows surf or stone edge since you will need it for the last pokemon) and blast it with your strongest attacks. Red will use Full Restores on Snorlax without a problem. If it goes to red HP he will use a full restore on the next turn, so use that in your favor to get it down. Then it comes charizard. If you have a water pokemon with Surf (or hydro pump... but Charizard can evade that one easier than surf) or a pokemon that knows stone edge (and can withstand a massive flare blitz) you will get it easily. After that you will see a new ending theme and you can get 2 more starters from Prof Elm (after cherrygrove) and Steven (on silph co in Saffron).
