Question 2. Nidorina is female-only. Answer: Yes

Question 3. (I forgot) Answer: No

Question 4. Magikarp cannot learn any TMs. Answer: Yes

Question 5. (I forgot) Answer: No

Once you've answered all five questions correctly, Whitney will return to her gym.

Goldenrod City Gym

This Gym specializes in Normal-Type Pokemon, who are only weak to Fighting (which aren't common at this point in the game), and is led by Whitney.

Note: If you catch a drowzee on route 34 you can trade it to a guy on the 5th level of the Goldenrod City Department Store for a machop.

Leader Whitney

  • Clefairy - Lv. 17, 246 Exp
Ability: ??

~ Mimic

  • Miltank - Lv. 19, 813 Exp
Held Item: Lum Berry
Ability: Scrappy

~ Stomp ~ Rollout ~ Milk Drink ~ DoubleSlap

Prizes: 2280 Yen, Plain Badge, TM 45 (Attract), Strength usable outside of battle (not sure though)

This battle can be quite difficult. Cleafairy shouldn't cause much trouble, though its Metronome (a move that picks any move in the game at random) makes for an interesting battle.

Miltank's Rollout (which gets stronger each time it's used consecutively) can knock out your entire team if it's allowed to get strong enough. The best way to avoid this is probably to first put it to sleep or paralyze (for example, use Bellsprouts Sleep Powder/Stun Spore learned at levels 13 and 17 respectively), then switch to a Pokemon that can either lower Miltank's accuracy, or increase it's own evasiveness. This will stop Rollout from hitting everytime, thereby making the battle much easier. However, Miltank still has the powerful move Stomp, which can still cause a lot of damage. Another advantage of Stun Spore over Sleep Powder, Stomp has a chance of Flinching and so when Paralysed it's Speed stat is halved. This should make it slower than your Pokemon, eliminating the threat of Flinching.

NOTE: Miltank is holding a Lum Berry (which cures any Status Effect, like Sleep), so you will have to get Stun Spore or Sleep Powder to hit twice for this strategy to work.

Miltank is very physically defensive, so it's advisable to hit it on the special side (where it's considerable weaker). Nevertheless, by no means does it have terrible Special Defense, so it can still take a few hits. What will make this battle last longer is Milk Drink, which Miltank will use when ever its HP is low in order to heal itself. It may be better to use Stun Spore instead of putting it to sleep, as Paralysis should last the entire match, while Sleep only lasts a few turns.

Take a Pokemon that knows Rock Smash (like Geodude or Onix) at around level 17 and Milktank won´t stand a single chance at taking you down. Since all her moves are Physical, a Rock-Type Pokemon will resist all of Miltank's attacks and can hit reasonably hard.

After you beat Whitney, she will begin to cry. Start to walk out of the gym, and Lass Bridget will alert you. Return to Whitney and pick up the Plain Badge.

Leader Whitney - Rebattle Team

  • Girafarig - Lv. 52 (Normal/Psychic), 1660 Exp
  • Lickilicky - Lv. 50 (Normal),
  • Bibarel - Lv. 54 (Normal/Water),
  • Delcatty - Lv. 54 (Normal), 1597 Exp
  • Clefable - Lv. 52 (Normal), 1437 Exp
  • Milktank - Lv. 58 (Normal), 2486 Exp

Important Note: You don't rematch the Gym Leader at their respective gyms, but instead in the Fighting Dojo in Saffron City of the Kanto Region.

You must first meet the Gym Leader outside of their Gym (which is in a set place at set times), where you obtain their phone number. You can then phone them for a rebattle at certain times, and they will be waiting in the Fighting Dojo.

Bike Shop

Just enter the store on the east side of the city. And answer Yes to get a Bicycle.

Flower Shop

To get the Squirtlebottle you need to defeat the Gym Leader. Then go to the National Park and go to Route 36. Nearby Sudowoodo there is a guy. Talk with him. Return to Goldenrod and on the right side of the Gym there is a Florist. Enter and talk to here. She will give you the Squirtle Bottle.

You can also obtain a Gracidea Flower, the item from Platinum version that changes Shaymin to its Sky Forme during the day, in this shop. Bring a legitimate Shaymin with you and a woman inside should give you the flower as a present. It is a Key Item and only works on Shaymin.

Name Rater (Optional)

The Name Rater can change the nicknames of a Pokemon. Traded Pokemon cannot have their nicknames changed.

Game Corner

In the game corner you can play slots to earn coinst that can be used to purchase items and pokemon.

Underground

There is a Photo Gallery on the right side of the north entrance. Defeat both guys and go to the counter. Talk with the man and he will get your picture (you will have a ROCKET GRUNT clothes) with all of your 6 pokemons.

Special Spearow

It's not really a gift Pokemon, but the gate keeper in the gate north of Goldenrod gives you a Level 20 Spearow with Mail attached to give to his friend in Route 31. You can give it to his friend, but you may want to keep the Spearow for yourself, seeing as you can only get this Pokemon once per game, and every extra ID number helps in the Lucky Channel. This Spearow is a special HGSS Pokemon so keep it as a special gift Pokemon.

After delivering the mail, which is completely optional, you will receive the TM Nightmare from the fat man in Route 31.(< this is not true as there is no TM Nightmare)--Blade93 18:20, 16 September 2009 (UTC)
