Getting the 8th Gym Badge in the Dragon's Den
- Note: You must have a Pokemon in your party capable of Surfing and traversing Whirlpools, as they are required for this section.
Upon entering the Den for the first time, you must face Ace Trainer Kobe, with a level 37 Dragonair. Next, Surf into the water and immediately go left and around counterclockwise. You may surface and fight Ace Trainer Piper for EXP, she has a Horsea (LV33), a Horsea (LV33), and a Seadra (LV35).
You MUST cross the Whirlpool to reach the entrance.
After entering the shrine, you will be prompted by the Master to answer questions. Later, he will give you a regular Dratini or an Extremespeed Dratini, depending on your responses. To get the Extremespeed Dratini, follow the steps in the following section.
Clair will burst in after the quiz and exclaim that even she hasn't passed the test. The Master will order her to give you the Rising Badge, then she will flee. Follow her and receive the TM59, Dragon Pulse.
You may return to receive your Dratini, but only if you have an extra slot in your party. You may come back for it anytime.
To continue the walkthrough and advance the story, head down past Blackthorn City to Routes 45 & 46.
Extremespeed Dratini
It's possible to get a Dratini in the game with the special move ExtremeSpeed (which it can't get normally). To get it you must answer compassionately when the Master asks about how you raise your Pokemon.
The answer sequence is: 1 (ALLY), 1 (STRATEGY), 3 (ANYONE), 1 (LOVE), 2 (BOTH) to receive an Extremespeed Dratini.
If you answer differently, you will still receive a Dratini, however it will lack the move ExtremeSpeed.

DOUBLE TEAM BATTLE
After you have all 16 badges and have defeated Rival on Mount Moon, go back to Dragon's Den. Just surf into the back of the Den and go to the left side where this fight is. Just walk up to your Rival and the battle music will start... but after a brief talk, Clair and Lance will arrive. Clair will want to fight your Rival, but he will push her back, you will defend her and Lance will challenge you and him to a Double Battle against the 2 Dragon Trainers. The Rival will ask for your help.

(strategy)
This is a Hard fight.
The first thing you will notice is that the red haired guy will attack only Dragonair. So forget about it and concentrate yourself on killing Gyarados. So a good Electric attack (don´t use discharge as it will hurt Silver's pokemon as well.). When Lance sends out Charizard, hopefully Dragonair will be on low HP. Try to take it down. Then Clair will send out Kingdra (if you have a pokemon with an Electric attack she will send Dragonite first). Kindgra has Ice and Water type attacks, you need a Water type pokemon to take down the Charizard (this is good as Water and Ice type attacks aren't very effective against Water Types.). Take down Charizard, then concentrate on Lance's Dragonite. If Clair sends out her Dragonite (instead of or after her Kingdra), you are in big trouble since they have everything covered. Clair's Dragonite knows Thunder and Hydro Pump. Lance's Dragonite knows Air Slash and Flamethrower. So take down Lance's Dragonite (hopefully Rival's Gengar will still be alive to fight Clair). After you take down Lance's Dragonite, Claire will go down fast.
