Cerulean City
Cerulean City Gym
When you get to Cerulean City, you'll notice that the Gym is Empty. For those who've played the originals (Silver / Gold / Crystal) it's the same. For those who have never played the originals, here's what you do:
- Go East of Cerulean City onto Route 9/10.
- First body of water you see, surf on it and go South.
- Off the water, you'll see a large building (the power plant). Go in there and talk to everyone. (They basically say that a part is missing)
- Fly / Surf back to Cerulean City and go into the Gym. You'll run into a Team Rocket Grunt. He runs away.
- Go outside and go north onto Route 24 & 25.
- Battle the Team Rocket Grunt (He only has a Lv. 39 Golbat) Once you beat him, he tells you that the part is in the Cerulean City Gym.
- Go into the Gym, and unlike the originals, they moved the hidden part. Go around the pool and the missing part is in a pile of tubes in the northwestern part of the pool.
- Take the part back to the Power Plant and give it to the guy sitting in the middle of the room that's not against a wall and not a police officer.
- Once you're done with that, go back to Cerulean City (you're not done yet!) and go north onto Route 24 & 25 again.
- Battle your way through the trainers.
- Go up on the ledge and you see Misty flirting with some guy or something along that line. She gets annoyed and you tell her you want to battle her and she goes back to the gym.
- You can bypass the powerplant side and find Misty right after going inside the gym and finding the rocket guy. After you defeat him on the bridge, Misty will be on the end of the route. And then finding the missing piece and going to the powerplant.
Gym Leader Misty
- Golduck - Lv. 49 (Water), 1827 Exp
- Quagsire - Lv. 49 (Water/Ground), 1439 Exp
- Lapras - Lv. 52 (Water/Ice), 2440 Exp
- Starmie - Lv. 54 (Water/Psychic), 2395 Exp
Prizes: ?? yen, CascadeBadge, TM03 (Water Pulse)
Strategy: For an overall type advantage, it's advisable to bring a Grass-type, or atleast a Grass-type move, as due to Quagsire being Water/Ground, it's immune to Electric. Quagsire also has only one weakness, albeit X4 weakness to Grass. Grass moves will be X2 Super-Effective for the rest of Mistys team.
Other than Quagsire, Electric moves will work well. If you have an Ampharos at this stage, this gym shouldn't be too hard.
Gym Leader Misty - Rematch Team
- Starmie - Lv. 60 (Water), 2661 Exp
- Quasire - Lv. 56 (Water/Ground), 1644 Exp
- Lapras - Lv. 56 (Water/Ice), 2628 Exp
- Lanturn - Lv. 54 (Water/Electric), 1805 Exp
- Floatzel - Lv. 54 (Water),
- Milotic - Lv. 60 (Water, 2739 Exp
Important Note: You don't rematch the Gym Leader at their respective gyms, but instead in the Fighting Dojo in Saffron City of the Kanto Region.
You must first meet the Gym Leader outside of their Gym (which is in a set place at set times), where you obtain their phone number. You can then phone them for a rebattle at certain times, and they will be waiting in the Fighting Dojo.
Cerulean Cave - Catching Mewtwo
After you've all 16 badges you gain access to Cerulean Cave. Deep inside Cerulean Cave you'll encounter Mewtwo at Lv. 70, so i recommend plenty of ultraballs,(as saving the master ball for a pokemon you might have trouble catching is a necessity.) some pretty strong pokemon, and luck because as I'm sure most of you know it usually comes down to the catch rate. So make sure to get its health in the really dark red and paralyze or place it to sleep before trying to catch it.
Will need TM70 Flash, HM06 Rock Smash, HM03 Surf, and HM08 Rock Climb in order to navigate the cave. (you don´t need Rock Climb to get Mewtwo)
